Can't a Council meeting ever just be a Council meeting?

Wickery Bridge Restoration Fundraiser was an event held at Founders' Hall to raise money for the restoration of Wickery Bridge. Alaric Saltzman, Damon Salvatore, Carol Lockwood, Meredith Fell, Brian Walters and Niklaus Mikaelson were among those in attendance. Klaus also pledged to match every dollar that was raised in his bid to create peace in Mystic Fall, provided his family was returned to him.

In Our Town, Alaric Saltzman and Damon Salvatore met at Founders' Hall. While publicly it was a fundraiser to raise money for the renovation of Wickery Bridge, behind closed doors it was a meeting of the Founders council. After arriving at the fundraiser, Alaric and Damon ran into Meredith Fell who told Damon that "some British guy" pledged to match every dollar that they raised. Damon immediately knew and confronted Klaus. Klaus explained he wanted to broker peace with Mayor Lockwood—Damon and the Council would stay out of his business and he theirs. Mystic Falls would be protected, and his hybrids be left alone. While Carol was in agreement with Klaus, Damon was not and even threatened Damon to get Stefan under control, otherwise the Council would be forced to take action against him.

In Break On Through, the fundraiser was an obvious success and renovations began. The whole town gathered to see the beginnings of the restoration project on Wickery Bridge. Damon, and eventually Rebekah, would learn that the wood used to create the bridge in 1912 was from White Oak—a sapling that survived the burning of the tree that created the Original vampires. After Rebekah torched the remaining wood from the bridge, Damon realized that the historical Mystic Falls sign was also made from the same wood.
