Hi, My name is Daniel.
How i got into Vampire Diaries is quite simple, their originality. I know they have the all popular stake in the heart and death by sunlight bit but what show has lapis lazuli rings? What show has creepy veiny eyed vampires? None. These vampires even have a specific point to the word "living dead". As in when you die, you're pretty much dead. So the vampires are pretty much bound to the ground, how can vampires fly and have wings when they die? I mean you lose your soul but not your weight and gravity. And they don't have bats, that's a good thing. Cos if they do, it'll probably be quite stupid, like when you die, you can communicate with bats now? That didn't happen with ZOMBIES! So i pretty much proved the whole vampire originality point.
But what about witches? The whole show has it's own mythology for these witches too which drew me in for being unique. Now we've seen those power of three, english speaking witches in Charmed, those wiccan covens in True Blood, those demonic witches in Supernatural and even the cliques in The Craft. But the thing is all of them show the kind of everyday witches we think they are suppose to be. Those evil or devoted to the craft seriously and focused. But in The Vampire Diaries, it's safe to say it's different. Instead of a Latin language usual witches are shown to use, these witches uses a language that we don't even understand! It proves about how the craft are really ORIGINAL, as in they show how other witchcraft shown aren't the true witchcraft. Get it?
So let's go to the werewolves. It's also pretty unique, although they transform to be small wolves, it's still specific. Now you've seen wolves in Twilight, they transform in the day, the night, during lunch time but they transform into huge wolves! So it's pretty much saying their bones expand, their hair grow rapidly when they transform. But in TVD, the wolves go through tremendous pain, how the bones in their body shift, how they turn to humane to canine form, not just as quickly like a snap of a finger. And the wolves in TVD actually turn to the size where their bones actually fit and not turn to giant bones in giant wolves. And although they have the whole full moon mythology, it also shows how we rarely see werewolves in real life. Because it only happens rarely. Not like in other shows where they happen to be changing every now and then. These wolves don't have any control over themselves, it really emphasize in the "BEAST" part.
That's how i feel about The Vampire Diaries. Don't get me wrong, I really like those other shows that I've stated but i do prefer Vampire Diaries more since it really proves some point to me. So, that's it for me :)
