Witch spell link This page is an official policy on The Vampire Diaries Wiki. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all users should follow. When editing this page, please ensure that your revision reflects consensus. When in doubt, discuss first on the talk page.

This policy is for what categories to add to a page. Categories help group together pages on similar subjects. Do not create any new categories. If you have any suggestion(s)/objection(s), please add it to the talk page.

Categories

Episode Categories

On episode pages (ex. As I Lay Dying) use ONLY these kind of categories:

  • "Season 1", "Season 2" ...
  • "Vampire Diaries Episode Guide" add to all episode pages
  • "Flashback episodes", if episode features a flashback scene.
  • "Season Finale", if it is the last episode in the season.
  • "Season Premiere", if it is the first episode in the season
  • "Episodes featuring all main characters" , if all main character appear in episode
  • "Birthday episodes", if somebody's birthday is shown in the episode
  • "Full moon episodes" , if a full moon is features in the episode
At the end of each episode page add
 {{DEFAULTSORT:312}}
  • If it's the 12th episode in season 3. (First number is the season number (in this case 3 ), and the other two are the episode number.. (01,02,03...14..19..)


Other categories will be deleted!

Character Categories

On character pages (ex. Damon Salvatore) use ONLY these kind of categories:

  • "Characters" on each character page
  • "Season 1 Characters", "Season 2 Characters" ... (depends in which season/s he/she appears.)
  • "Frequency of appearing".
    • Main Character (chosen by producers)
    • Recurring (3 or more appearances)
    • Guest (1-2 episodes, important to the story)
  • "Family" which family he/she belongs to. (ex. Salvatore Family, Mikaelson Family, The Originals..)
  • "Protagonists/Antagonists" , if the character is/was good then add Protagonists, if he/she was bad add Antagonists. Only for main and recurring characters!
  • If the character is supernatural creature (vampire, werewolf, witch, doppelganger or hybrid) add "Supernatural" category.
  • Add species category: "Humans", "Vampires","Werewolves","Hybrids"
    • If the character is a vampire/hybrid and alive, add "Undead".
    • If the character is dead, add "Deceased".
  • If the character currently lives in Mystic Falls add "Mystic Falls Residents" and if it's out of town, add "Out of Town"
  • "Vampire Hunters", if the character is a vampire hunter.
  • "Novel Characters", add to character pages is he/she appears in book, but only to a special page about the novel character. For example add this category to Elena Gilbert (novel) but not to Elena Gilbert.
  • "Unseen Characters", if the character is mentioned in the series and if it's important to have his own page, but it's not seen.
At the end of each character page add
 {{DEFAULTSORT: Gilbert, Elena}}
  • The reason for this is to sort the pages by last name (Gilbert, Salvatore, Forbes, etc.)

Family Categories

On character pages (ex. Mikaelson Family) use ONLY these kind of categories:

  • "Families" on each family page.
  • "Main Family, Founding Family" ... (depends if the family is one of the founding families, and its role (main) in TV series.)
  • "Mikaelson Family, Lockwood Family, Gibert Family, Salvatore Family"... (depends of most of the family members.)
At the end of each family page add
 {{DEFAULTSORT: Family, Mikaelson}}
  • The reason for this is to sort the pages by last name (Mikaelson, Gilbert, Salvatore, Forbes, etc.)

Location Categories

On location pages (ex. Mystic Grill) use ONLY these kind of categories:

  • "Locations" add on every location page
  • "Community Location" ,if the location belongs to the community..
  • "Residential Location" ,if somebody lives in the house

Object Categories

On object pages (ex. Moonstone) use ONLY these kind of categories:

  • "Object" on every object page
    • Note: if an object is not that important,but is made/used by witch add one paragraph about it to Witches Tools, rather than making a whole page about it.
    • If an object is some kind of diary or journal add category: "Diaries".
  • "Weaknesses" if an object is a weakness to some creature.

Cast Categories

On cast pages (ex. Nina Dobrev) use ONLY these kind of categories:

  • "Vampire Diaries Cast" on every actor/actress page
  • "Season 1 Cast", "Season 2 Cast"..
At the end of each character page add
 {{DEFAULTSORT: Gilbert, Elena}}
  • The reason for this is to sort the pages by last name (Dobrev, Wesley, Somerhalder, etc.)

Crew Categories

On crew pages (ex. Julie Plec) use ONLY these kind of categories:

  • "Vampire Diaries Crew" on every crew page
  • "Writers" add on every writer page
    • "Season 1 Writers" , "Season 2 Writers"...
  • "Directors" add on every director page
    • "Season 1 Directors" , "Season 2 Directors"...
  • "Producers" add on every producer page
    • "Season 1 Producers" , "Season 2 Producers"...
  • "Musical Composers" add on musical producer pages (So far only: Michael Suby and Chris Mollere)
At the end of each character page add
 {{DEFAULTSORT: Williamson, Kevin}}
  • The reason for this is to sort the pages by last name (Williamson, Plec, Mollere, etc.)

Transcript Categories

  • "Episode Transcripts" add to every transcript page
  • "Season 1" if the transcript is for a season 1 episode.
  • "Season 2" if the transcript is for a season 2 episode.
  • "Season 3" if the transcript is for a season 3 episode.
At the end of each transcript page add
 {{DEFAULTSORT:312}}
  • If it's the transcript of 12th episode in season 3. (First number is the season number (in this case 3 ), and the other two are the episode number.. (01,02,03...14..19..)

Event Categories

  • "Events" add to every event page
  • "Season 1 Events", "Season 2 Events"...

Arrange events by order by adding {{DEFAULTSORT:302}} </pre> That means that it was second event in season 3.

Relationship Categories

  • On each, add "Relationships"

There are 4 other types to add:

    • "Romantic Relationship'' - if the characters were/are romantically involved
    • "Friendly Relationship'' - if the characters are/were just friends
    • "Family Relationship'' - If the characters are family
    • "Enemy Relationship"- if the characters are/were enemies

Powers/Weaknesses Categories

  • If it's somebody's power like Super Speed add "Powers"
  • If it's somebody's weakness like Vervain add "Weaknesses"
  • If both, like Werewolf Bite (Power for Werewolves, Weakness for vampires) add both categories..

Image Categories

  • Each image page (ex: File:Nina dobrev.jpg, File:Thedescent06.jpg) that is uploaded is to have these categories.
    • '"Screencaps Season 1" - if the image is from season 1
    • '"Screencaps Season 2" - if the image is from season 2
    • '"Screencaps Season 3" - if the image is from season 3
    • "Images of Tyler Lockwood" - if the image is of the character Tyler Lockwood
    • "Images of Elena Gilbert" - if the image is of the character Elena Gilbert
    • "Images of Niklaus Mikaelson" - if the image is of the character Niklaus Mikaelson
    • "Cast images" - if the image is of a cast member
    • "Cast Images of Nina Dobrev" - if the image is of the actor/actress: Nina Dobrev
    • "Fan Images" - if the image is made by fans or altered
    • "User Images" - if the image are private pictures, photos, user's exclusive fanart that he/she has created to be used only by him/her and only on him/her profile or blogs. (Images can be related or not to TVD / TO series.) Note: This category should only be used by registered Users.
    • "Out of TVD universe" - if the image/gif is not TVD related.
