You presume to know me? Then know this: I will gladly end you for what you did to Camille. But first, I'm gonna make you suffer in ways your spoiled, little mind cannot possibly imagine. And when it's over, when your sweet recollections have been rendered obsolete, you will associate my name with fear and pain, and perhaps the dull realization that you...are nothing to me.
Klaus to Aurora

The Other Girl in New Orleans is the eighth episode of the third season of The Originals and the fifty-second episode of the series overall.

Summary[]

TROUBLE IN CRESCENT CITY – After learning that Cami's life is in danger and Aurora may be to blame, Klaus is forced to engage in another one of her devious games and follows a series of clues she's left behind for him. Meanwhile, Elijah, Freya and Hayley take drastic measures against Tristan when they discover he holds a valuable piece of information they need. Elsewhere, Aya gives Marcel an ultimatum that leaves him with a difficult decision to make, while tensions between Hayley and Jackson cause her to reevaluate her involvement in Mikaelson family matters.

Plot[]

Aurora introduces herself as Klaus' long lost love, and takes Camille to the fight gym with Marcel's vampires-in-training. There, she gives them her blood and snaps their neck.

Freya babysits Hope while Hayley and Elijah torture Tristan for the longitude of Rebekah's whereabouts. However, Tristan never lets anything slip.

Lucien tries to persuade Klaus to think things through, but, determined to save Camille, Klaus searches for Aurora's clues. Lucien goes with him, but doesn't give up convincing him to be careful.

Aurora tells Camille she's been committed every so often by her brother; plunged into ice baths, bled for melancholia, and exorcised for demons six times. Her latest diagnosis is bipolar disorder, but shuts Camille up, unwilling to be "condescended" by someone who recently got her degree. Instead, she wants to know more about Camille.

Aya is suspicious that Marcel, having been Davina's guardian in the past, had something to do with Davina being shunned by the witches, just when the Strix were going to use her for activating the weapon against the Mikaelsons. However, the covens hate vampires, including Marcel, but Aya tells him The Strix have no tolerance for insubordination. She gives him a weapon that can render an Original asleep as good as the silver daggers Klaus used on his siblings, and tasks him in subduing Elijah and freeing Tristan.

Mary, Jackson's grandmother, visits Hope. Elijah tells Hayley to go back home across the street, as there's nothing more to be done now.

Klaus finds the clue, a painting he gave to Camille. Tired of Lucien's talking, and having enough once Lucien suggests he let Camille die, Klaus snaps his neck and heads for the former church. Aurora orders Camille to tell her deepest, darkest secret, or she'll kill her.

As torture doesn't work, Elijah tries to go into his mind, but all he can snatch is the name of an aircraft called Cepheus. Marcel arrives and tries to get him to release Tristan before the Strix come and get him, but Elijah refuses.

Camille says she got arrested for battery in her junior year of college. Her roommate tried to break up with him, so he hit her and broke her nose. She was too scared to go to the police, and Camille didn't like it that he went free, so one day at a bar, when the guy was hitting on a freshman, Camille beat him up. Aurora realizes that it wasn't the act that Camille was ashamed of, but the fact she enjoyed beating him up.

Klaus shows up, but although she doesn't doubt his feelings for her, Aurora is too jealous that he has affection for Camille, and claims he was drawn to her under the belief that Camille is pure whereas she has a darkness in her that drew Camille to Klaus. Aurora tells him she may have imperfections, but Camille is an illusion.

Aurora knocks out Camille, and Klaus vamp-speeds Aurora away. He goes into her head for the latitude of Rebekah's whereabouts, and tells her she means nothing to him, and leaves to save Camille from the vampires in transition.

The Strix gang up on Elijah, and Hayley comes to help. Marcel daggers him, but stops the vampires from hurting Hayley. While Aya gets Tristan free, Marcel secretly heals her and tells her to remind Elijah who his friends are.

Marcel cures Tristan's wolf bite, but is unhappy that they treat him as an inferior, only using him when they need help. Tristan allows him to go with them, as he's earned his place at their side and to know everything that entails.

Marcel gets Elijah the information on Cepheus, and the flight pattern. Now that they have the course, they just have to match the path.

Freya chants a spell and meets Finn's spirit.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The title "The Other Girl in New Orleans" is a callback to a season 1 episode that focused on Cami's character ("The Girl In New Orleans"). With Aurora determined to dismiss Cami as a viable romantic interest in Klaus' life, it felt liked a nice callback.[1]
  • The read-through got a big laugh from many of the guys in the room, who pointed out that they have dated girls exactly as intense and blindly arrogant as Aurora is in this episode, particularly when she says, "You're in danger of losing your true love… ME."[1]
  • Narducci (aka "Papa Nardooch") and Charles Michael Davis (aka "CMD") have started an unofficial book club, exchanging books about achievement and spirituality, everyone from Annie Lamott to Michael Jordan. Narducci carries a private journal that he uses to jot down quotes that inspire him and will share them with us to carry us through the hard times. The writing staff calls him Coach Taylor. Shippers on Twitter call him That Asshole Who Won't Give Us Klaroline. I call him brilliant.[1]
