Over the course of Season One numerous humans and vampires are killed in Mystic falls and other places when applicable. This article contains information and pictures of everyone killed in Mystic Falls and other places; whether staked, bitten, neck snapped, or otherwise.

Throughout this season 54+ people or vampires have been killed, and assuming all of the tomb vampires are dead the total amount comes out to 74+. Most in the present, but there are a few that took place in 1864 and flashbacks and they are included in the total but will be distinguished from present day. the death of a vampire could be counted twice is his human death is also appears on screen in the present or past. How many time Elena and other people are saved whether it was by themselves or by another will also be noted. Also noted will be the villain of the episode if any. A villain will be a killer who has killed unjustifiably.

Pilot (September 10, 2009)
	Lives lost: 2	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Damon Salvatore
	Two people are killed at the very beginning of the episode by Damon. Their names are Darren Malloy and Brooke Fenton. While they were driving home, they hit someone who ends up being Damon. Damon bites Darren, and Brooke tries to call for help, but she is killed shortly afterwards.
The Night of the Comet (September 17, 2009)
	Lives lost: 2	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Damon Salvatore
	Another couple are killed in this episode. They were camping out in the woods when the guy goes to check on something. The girl comes out and finds her boyfriends body in a tree, bleeding killed by Damon. She runs to her car, but isn't fast enough and Damon attacks her from above.
Friday Night Bites (September 24, 2009)
	Lives lost: 1	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Damon Salvatore
	Stefan tells Damon that he still has humanity in him, that he loves Elena. Mr. Tanner comes around the corner and tells Stefan to get back to the game. Damon says, "If that's my humanity, then whats this?" Damon goes over and bites his neck killing him.

You're Undead to Me (October 8, 2009)
	Lives lost: 2	Lives saved: 1 (Caroline)	Villain: Damon Salvatore
	When Elena looks up information on what happened in June 1953, she finds a news clip of Franklin Fell reporting Joseph Salvatore's death. We can assume he was killed by Damon. Later when Caroline gets called by Damon to his house, she gets compelled to open the door to let him out. Zach Salvatore comes at the last minute and holds the door closed just long enough for her to start running away and Damon snaps his neck on his way after Caroline.
Lost Girls (October 15, 2009)
	Lives lost: 5	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Damon Salvatore
	In the episode before Damon had escaped the Salvatore Boarding House and bites Vicki Donovan. Three of Vicki's friends that were seen in You're Undead to Me are shown to have been killed by Damon, drained of blood. He pours gasoline on them and is about to pour it on Vicki, but she is still alive. Damon takes her to his house for fun. He gives some of his blood and they party for a part of the day. They both go into Stefan's room, messing it up. Damon snaps her neck and she wakes up not long afterwards and becomes a vampire. Logan Fell is also killed by Damon who drains him. It is later revealed that he was given blood before this by Anna thus making him a vampire.
Haunted (October 29, 2009)
	Lives lost: 1	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Vicki Donovan
	While Vicki and Jeremy are kissing, Vicki bites his lip. She starts sucking the blood out of it and he tells her to stop. Elena comes and tries to stop her, but gets thrown by her. Stefan comes to help, but Vicki hides under the buses. He tells Elena and Jeremy to leave and Vicki bites Elena, but is staked by Stefan before she can do any major damage. Damon hides her body in the woods which is later found by Caroline in Let The Right One In when her car gets stuck in the mud.
162 Candles (November 5, 2009)
	Lives lost: 2 (Lexi and a unknown human male)	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Damon Salvatore
	A unknown female is kissing her boyfriend outside of Mystic Grill and Damon comes and bites the male killing him. Sheriff Forbes and some other cops try to find who it is and she points at Lexi. Damon had compelled the girl to think it was her. Lexi gets injected with vervain and took outside of the Mystic Grill, but she fights back and comes after Sheriff Forbes. Before she gets to her, Damon appears and stakes Lexi.

The Turning Point (November 19, 2009)

	After not being invited by Jenna into the Gilbert house, Logan Fell looks for someone else to feed on. A female jogger named Daphne passes by him and recognizes Logan, and he bites her killing her. When Damon comes and looks for Logan, he tells him that he killed numerous others at a hotel he was staying at called The Armada including the staff and customers. While Logan is at the Fell warehouse, Alaric comes and confronts him about Jenna. Logan tries to kill him, but Alaric stakes him and Logan dies again.
Bloodlines (January 21, 2010)
	Lives lost: 2	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Damon Salvatore
	When Damon visits a witch named Bree at Bree's Bar with Elena, she mysteriously disappears. It turns out that Lexi's boyfriend is also a vampire, whose name is Lee. After Elena convinces Lee not to kill him, Damon comes after Bree for revenge and rips her heart out. At the end of the episode it shows Alaric telling Isobel that he was going to be late home from work that day. When he comes home he sees Damon biting Isobel and kills her. It's later revealed that Isobel came to him, begging to be a vampire so Damon turned her into one.
Unpleasantville (January 28, 2010)

	Noah, a vampire is after Elena because of her resemblance to Katherine, threatens Jeremy's life if Elena doesn't do what he says. Elena complies and runs away, most the doors are locked so she goes to the lunchroom. Elena tries to fend him off using pencils to stab him, and he almost bites her but Stefan shows up just in time. Both him and Damon question him about a way into the Vampire's Tomb and ask him whose helping him. When he refuses Stefan stakes him.
Children of the Damned (February 4, 2010)
	Lives lost: 2	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Katherine Pierce
	In 1864, Damon goes along with Katherine's plan to use him as bait to get food for her. Two people on a carriage show up, asking her if she needs help. She tells that that its her husband, and then points to Damon on the ground. She kills the businessman first and goes after the coachman who was trying to help Damon. Katherine then tells Damon, "And that's how its done".
Fool Me Once (February 11, 2010)
	Lives lost: 2	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Ben McKittrick
	While Anna runs into the tomb to save Pearl, Ben threatens Jeremy just giving him Stefan a choice of going after Anna or saving Jeremy. Ben thinks he's stronger than Stefan, but Stefan lights Ben on fire with a flamethrower. Since Grams helped open the tomb and technically break the seal it used up a lot of her power. When they get home she lies down and dies out of fatigue.
A Few Good Men (March 25, 2010)
	Lives lost: 3 (technically 4 but Alaric resurrects)	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Harper; Mystery Man
	Soon after Harper escapes the tomb, he bites a hiker, killing him and stealing his clothes. Later in the episode Elena visits Trudie Peterson about Isobel. Trudie sends a text message to a Mystery Man saying, "She's here". Trudie tells Elena to leave after a while and Elena sees the same man down the street as she gets in her car. The man goes to Trudie's door and she tries to run away. He throws her down the stairs killing her. The man later tells Elena to stop looking and when she agrees he jumps in front of a truck killing himself..he was compelled to do everything by Isobel. At a fund-raiser held at the Mystic Grill, Damon pretty much tells Alaric that he killed Isobel and that she was delicious. Alaric goes to the Salvatore Boarding House and confronts him. Damon stabs Alaric with his own stake and he dies, but he owns a mysterious ring that brings people back to life.
There Goes the Neighborhood (April 1, 2010)
	Lives lost: 1	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Frederick & Bethanne (Dead)
	Frederick and Bethanne attack Stefan and Damon trying to get revenge because they are part of the reason why they were in the Vampire's Tomb. Frederick manages to get away after that failed attempt, but Bethanne gets staked by Stefan.
Let The Right One In (April 8, 2010)
	Lives lost: 2+	Lives saved: 0	Villain: Frederick (Dead); Damon Salvatore
	Damon snaps Samantha Gibbons neck after making sure she had no relatives in her house to help kill the tomb vampires inside and save Stefan. Alaric comes and helps Damon kill all the vampires there were in the house, but Frederick runs away. After Elena got Stefan inside the car, Frederick attacks them and Elena helps temporarily knocking down Frederick. Elena gives Stefan some of her blood so he can kill Frederick, and he does in a rage.
Under Control (April 15, 2010)

	John Gilbert comes back into town and he talks to Damon revealing that he knows he's a vampire and that he helped open the Vampire's Tomb. Damon snaps his neck and throws him off the roof, but he comes back to life because he possesses a special ring that protects him from being killed permanently. John also mentions at the beginning of the episode that 7 hunters, 4 campers, and 2 state employees are missing in the area around Mystic Falls which were most likely killed by the tomb vampires.

Blood Brothers (April 29, 2010)
	Lives lost: 7 (4 humans including Stefan and Damon in 1864, 3 vampires including Pearl and Harper in the present)	Lives saved: 0	Villain: John Gilbert
	In 1864, Stefan and Damon are trying to rescue Katherine. Stefan causes a diversion saying that a vampire is still alive. Damon then goes to the carriage and knocks out the person guarding it. Stefan and Damon start carrying her out when, someone shoots Damon. Stefan tries to retaliate and shoot them back, but also gets shot. They both get shot by their father, Giuseppe Salvatore. After turning into a vampire Stefan comes to his father and tries to tell him that he won't feed and turn. Giuseppe gets ready to stake him, but Stefan, not knowing his own strength, accidentally knocks him across the room. He feeds on him and completes the transition into a vampire. Later Stefan brings Damon a girl and gets him to feed on her killing her. Henry, a tomb vampire, is also killed whenever Damon and Alaric visit his apartment looking for Isobel. Pearl and Harper both get staked by John Gilbert.

Founder's Day (May 13, 2010)
	Lives lost: 2+ including several vampires and Mayor Lockwood	Lives saved: 0	Villain: John Gilbert
	After John Gilbert activates the device Mayor Lockwood, Damon and the rest of the tomb vampires in town go down, along with Anna. They all get dragged to the Gilbert Building basement, where John stakes Anna himself and sets the basement on fire. Mayor Lockwood's neck gets snapped while Damon tells him hes a vampire. The rest get burned alive and Damon gets saved by Stefan with the help of Bonnie. Caroline fell after the car crash when the device was activated and she was last said to be in surgery. Jeremy took a whole bottle of pills and drank Anna's blood and is seen to have slowly close his eyes. John had his fingers and ring cut off while Katherine stabs him. However, Elena calls the ambulance in time, saving John, as shown in Season 2, Episode 1. Also, Jeremy had not taken enough pills to kill him, so Anna's blood actually healed him of the damage the pills should have done, as said by Stefan.
