Such is the blessing of immortality. And also the curse. [...] I've lived as a vampire for over a thousand years. I've experienced everything the world has to offer. Except those experiences that being a vampire makes impossible. I was envious when Niklaus and Hayley had the miracle that is you. But I would gladly give up that dream. I would give you the cure if you wanted it.

The family relationship between the Original vampire, Rebekah Mikaelson and her niece, the tribrid, Hope Mikaelson.

Rebekah is the paternal aunt of Hope, the daughter of Niklaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall. Hope's parentage and unique status as a living hybrid made her an ideal target for exploitation or sacrifice by numerous adversaries even before she was born. Rebekah, whose relationship with Klaus had been strained for centuries, had left New Orleans not long before Hope was born to start a new life for herself.

By the time Hope was born, the supernatural situation in the city had deteriorated to the point of all-out war between the Original Vampires, non-original vampires, witches, werewolves and mortal factions. Hope's parents along with Elijah, her paternal uncle, knew that she would be under constant threat from these enemies. Wanting a happy life for their daughter, Hayley and Klaus concluded that it would be best if she was not raised in the embattled city. The first step to achieving this goal was to convince the world that their newborn child had died on the day she was born. In order to ensure Hope's safety, Klaus then called upon Rebekah - who, despite their troubled history, he trusted above all others - to take and raise his daughter in secret, far away from those that would see her dead. She gladly did so, promising Klaus that Hope would be happy.

In order to protect her niece, Rebekah carried one-fourth of the Hollow's spirit. She was unable to ever see Hope again, as doing so would put her in danger. However, as of The Kindness of Strangers, Hope has taken back each of the portions of the Dark Magic of the Hollow into herself, freeing the burden from her aunt, as well as her father and uncles, making it so that they can interact once again.

Throughout The Originals Series[]

In House of the Rising Son, Rebekah saves Hayley and Hope twice. Rebekah is first able to save Hayley and Hope from a group of Marcel's nightwalkers, remarking "that is not how you treat a pregnant lady!". Later in the episode—after Hayley tells Klaus she is willing to abort the baby—Rebekah saves Hayley and Hope from an angry Klaus, stating that he preaches about not wanting the child but is willing to punish Hayley for trying to kill it.

In Girl in New Orleans, Agnes suggests that Hayley should go for a routine check up on the baby, Hayley remarks that she can't just go to the Quarter for a checkup. Rebekah states that she is surprised that Hayley is not taking all the precautions to take care of Hope as some people—including Rebekah herself—would kill to be able to have a child of their own.

In Farewell to Storyville, Rebekah–after being released by Klaus–appears to Hayley to say her goodbyes. Along with her goodbyes to Hayley, Rebekah warns Hayley that Klaus is mean but does want something more from life than to be feared. Along with the warning about Klaus, Rebekah warns Hayley that the Mikaelson Family have an endless list of enemies and Hope will inherit them all, she also asks if Hayley will tell Hope stories about her "crazy aunt Bex".

In From a Cradle to a Grave, Klaus and Hayley make the decision to fake Hopes death in an attempt to protect her from the Ancestors. However, Elijah is adamant that there is nobody that can protect the baby more than he and her parents, however, Klaus reminds Elijah that there is one more person, Rebekah. Having initially left town after being exiled by Klaus,[1] Rebekah returns to New Orleans to collect baby Hope. Joyed to see her baby niece for the first time, Klaus explains to Rebekah that in spite of their differences, there is nobody he would trust more with his daughter's life than her. Rebekah is happy that Klaus wants her to look after Hope as it will give her a shot at a human life, to which she promises she will do whatever necessary to protect the baby from her grandmother.

In Rebirth, Hope is living with Rebekah away from New Orleans. Rebekah tells Hope about her father and the circumstances that caused her to be sent away. She tells her this in the style of a fairy tale. Rebekah then puts Hope to bed placing the wooden knight toy with her.

In The Brothers That Care Forgot, Rebekah takes Hope to the park. Rebekah is pushing her on the swing when she notices her mother's starlings staring at her. Rebekah believes her mother has found them so she calls Elijah. Elijah meets with Rebekah in the diner and he holds Hope. Rebekah notices a worrying change in Elijah's behavior and when she goes to give Hope a diaper change she sees he has killed people in the diner. She puts Hope in her carrier and she snaps Elijah's neck in order to keep Hope safe.

In Beautiful Mistake, Rebekah after hearing about Hayley situation is worried about her niece's mother.

In Savior, before leaving the Christmas party at the Abattoir, Rebekah gave Hope a rub on the back and said goodbye to her. Later Rebekah told Elijah to dagger her to keep the family and Hope safe from her as she is dangerous to them from the effects of the cursed stake.

In The Bloody Crown, Rebekah is un-daggered by Hayley as a part of her plan to help her family. Rebekah, fearing for the safety of her niece (and their family) convinces Klaus to come to the compound and stand trial. During the trial she manages to keep Klaus (Hope's father) alive. At the end like majority of the Mikealsons, Rebekah is in Chambre de Chasse away from Hope.

In Haunter of Ruins Rebekah and Hope (alongside their family) are reuniting again. Rebekah shall consider Hope when planning the next moves with family. Rebekah is happy to see the niece.

In The Feast of All Sinners, Rebekah accepts to be part of the ritual that will separate her from her siblings forever, in order to save Hope. After the ritual she talks to Freya about the time she spent with her niece when she was her guardian. Then Rebekah hands a necklace with the Mikaelson crest to Freya, and asks her to give it to Hope and to tell her niece that she loves her very much.

In Where You Left Your Heart, Rebekah helps Hayley talk some sense into Klaus because Hope wants to talk to him.

Throughout Legacies Series[]

Season Four[]

In See You On The Other Side, Freya tells Hope that Rebekah that she wanted to come and be with her as she became a fully activated tribrid, but there just wasn't enough time.

In I Thought You'd Be Happier To See Me, a humanity-less Hope is at a bar, looking to feed from Brandy. Though before biting into her neck, she's stopped by her aunt Rebekah. Hope isn't happy to see her, though Rebekah is. Rebekah doesn't care for Brandy's attitude, and compels her to run along and change the music. Freya has told her what happened and she apologizes for missing her big day. She wants to catch up with her niece, but Hope retorts if she's here for a Mikaelson lecture. Rebekah has prided herself as the fun aunt. They catch up over drinks, particularly Brandy.

Hope pushes Rebekah to finish her drink. Hope pulls Brandy's hair back, but Rebekah decides against it, that she's almost empty. Hope offers to pop open another for more fun. Rebekah compels the girl to forget and leave; she's done with the charde. She reminds Hope that she has a family that loves her and urges her to come home with her. Hope refuses, citing that she doesn't know what she's going through. Rebekah questions if being a tribrid is so different from being a vampire, though Hope explains that it's not what she's missing. Rebekah realizes that she's missing her humanity.

Outside the bar in the alleyway, Hope retches the large amounts of alcohol and blood. Rebekah attempts to help her, but she brushes her off. Her humanity is off, which by Rebekah's understanding wasn't even by her choice. Hope still believes that it's the best thing to happen to her, but her aunt doesn't buy it. Hope craves freedom and to choose her own fate. Such is the blessing of immortality, but it's also the curse. She explains that when her emotions are heightened, being a vampire is indescribably beautiful, but she asks her what is the point if she can't appreciate it. Hope wants her to answer that, because she's the one wanting to be human again. Rebekah, however, has lived for over a thousand years and has experienced everything the world and being a vampire can offer, except those that being a vampire make impossible. She admits that she was envious when Niklaus and Hayley had the miracle that she is. However, she would gladly give up that dream and give her the Cure, if she wanted it. Hope calls her a hypocrite and tells her to stop being a martyr, like her father. Hope retches again, as Rebekah admits that she is a hypocrite. She's always hated it when Klaus daggered her. Taking a White Oak Ash dagger from her coat, she turns Hope around and forces the blade into her heart, desiccating her.

Rebekah loads Hope into her car. The bartender believes that she's trying to leave without paying her tab. Rebekah quips that she'll settle with him in a minute, but before she can finish, the bartender vamps behind her and snaps her neck. Eventually, however, Hope deals with the bartender.

Later that night, Rebekah wakes wondering if Hope was really going to leave her dumped on the side of the road. They're still family, but Hope questions what good is family if they just stab you in the back. She throws the dagger at her feet, explaining that it doesn't work too well on a tribrid. Rebekah had to try, just like her father would have tried. She doesn't want to talk about her father. He's dead, because of family, love and her. She warns her that she should stop acting like him, but Rebekah retorts that she should take her own advice. She admits she's her father's daughter, but won't make the same mistakes. She believes that Klaus would be so ashamed and attempts to leave. Before she does, Hope gives her back her necklace. She believes it's spelled, probably by Freya, and likely how she found her. She takes Rebekah's car, leaving her stranded.
