The Night of Illumination is a celebration that was first started in Mystic Falls by the Founding Familes over 150 years ago, a tradition that the townspeople still enjoy anually. On this very special night, all of the people living in Mystic Falls turn off the lights in their homes and streets, and then light up paper lanterns to celebrate the their beauitful town. The Night of Illumination is first seen the Season 3 episode, Ghost World.
