There are a lot of similarities between Damon and Klaus (the kid brother in reference to Kol) - if you want somebody to take the Klaus page, let me know how you want me to set it up and I can help you with the Tropes - I love making fun of fictional characters like this - I would actually love doing a Kol Mikaelson one too, as he has a lot of good ones despite his few and far between appearances on the show (which I think is actually a trope, lol).
Sure, go ahead! I started the character tropes during the summer hiatus, when there were no new episodes. Right now I am working on the Cultural References and Tropes for episodes, so if you want to do characters, go right ahead!
Actually: THANKS! The tropes on some character pages have been erased so many times, I was starting to think that I was the only one who found them interesting!
These pages in particular used to part of the main character pages and contain information about each character. I consider them to be a section of those pages (one of the suggestions was just to put a "Spoiler - hide" template - that is why I included all the categories that were on the original page.
Tropes can be categorized as "Other" because it is an additional information to the character, but in essence, tropes are not characters, vampires, families, etc.
You can create the category "Tropes" and a page that can be used as an index of the tropes of the main characters.
But I think that for most of the other characters I can leave the tropes in their own page (because they are not so long), and just link to the section?
1 - You can create pages for each character's tropes (similar to Elena, Stefan, and Damon's)
2 - or temporarily transfer all the tropes of the other characters to the "Tropes of Characters". When a character has many tropes, you can create a single page.
I did not want to take it out of the character's page, unless necessary. I think it's nice that they are included with all the other information relating to the character....
Personally I would prefer to leave them where they are, and make links to the sections....
I am, however, at the time working on the Cultural References on the episode pages (very slowly - I have other work I have to catch up to around here!). The Tropes was something I starded in the Hiatus, when there were no new episodes runing. So I probably won't work too much on them right now.
I just got annoyed because people kept erasing them without stating reason!
Not yet. Everything depends on the pilot. If the episode: The Originals manages to get the interest of the people, it is possible that the series has the same date as the vampire diaries season 5. Something similar to what happened with The Secret Circle.
I was thinking it would be smarter to have it run in the Hiatus, so that people have something to watch during that time. But since it's probably going to be the same producers, etc, it might be too taxing for them....
So am I, I think the two of them have a wonderful chemistry together! And I feel that the fact that Ian and Nina are dating, that is makes their scenes more authentic.
But I am so tired of the way almost everybody are judging them by human standarts and morals. They are VAMPIRES and are supposed to have a different set of rules....
Hey, just letting you know that episode pages and transcripts just have the categories for the season they are from and the episodes category. Episode transcripts for the transcript pages. Hybrids and the originals only go onto character pages. Events on event pages, Miss Mystic Falls Pageant for example. We have more info here The Vampire Diaries Wiki:Category Policy
Sorry. I guess I am thinking of categories as tags, so if we want to find all episodes about hybrids we could choose the category "hybrid" and see all the episodes related to that.
There isn't anything like it, is it?
It would be VERY useful to have tags for pictures. It's SO HARD to find a picture, even the ones I uploaded myself. The picture search apparently does not even accept two words. I tried to look for pictures of April AND Rebecca, in the end I just decided to upload the pictures again, and the machine then shows me the picture I had uploaded before.
Is there a way to tag the photos to make search easier?
You can add categories to images, although I'm not sure how many people categorize images. Category:Images of April for example. But if your searching for images when you click the add photo button, the title has to have the exact word in it for it to show it.

I don't see an option to add categories when I upload an image. Can I put more categories in an image? Then it becames like tagging.
But if your searching for images when you click the add photo button, the title has to have the exact word in it for it to show it.
That's what I mean - this sucks and makes the image search almost impossible! It should be possible to search for images of Rebekah AND Damon, not only the images that have Rebekah (or Damon) in the titles!
Is this a problem for the whole Wikia, or only for Vampire Diaries?
I really don't know how to write code....
In this case you are recommending me to use categories as tags for images - but not for episode pages. Why the distinction?
Well certain categories go on certain pages. Images of were made for images, as the same categories vampire diaries episode guide and season 1, 2, 3, 4 were made for episodes. The categories hybrids, vampires were created for the character articles.
To add categories to images you have to go to the image page itself File:Klaus.jpg or if you click on a image it is the link at the top of the screen that pops up. I'm pretty sure it's all wikis that are like this when searching. You can look through the recent uploads, but other than that you'd have to look through the galleries on the pages themselves. You can also look at the images uploaded by a certain user through Special:Log under upload log.
Hey, thanks for adding the plot section of the episode, but it'd be better if you try to make it objective. I saw some sentences that you have added personal opinions, like Stefan should thank Damon for keeping the end of the bargain, or Elena forgetting that Rebekah saved her life back in Growing Pains. It'd be much better if you write the plot without these comments. Other than that, I appreciate your work.
It's ok. I just wanted to let you know because it just doesn't look nice. It's better to be objective when writing on articles but feel free on comments :)
I will try to restrain myself... but this episode it was hard to keep serious! They took us on a great emotional ride, but there were SO MANY plot holes and so much CHEESENESS....
Hey I was just wanting to let you know that transcripts were already linked on the episode pages, right beside where it says episode guide in the infobox.
Thanks for the info. Sorry, I did not see it, this is why I started to put the links after the summary. So I guess the link is not very visible, because I was looking for the transcripts, but I only found them when I googled them (binged???? Really, who says that?) .
What is your suggestion?
This Wiki thing is much more complicated than it looks! Anarchy is probably the hardest form of government.
Haha yea it is kinda hard to see, I figured that was why you were putting them in the summary. We can change the color so people can see it better here. I'm not sure if it should be white or a which color though.
On the edit page just click on picture icon which is located at the right side and then search the image name on wiki. But, I use this:
[[File:JeremyAnna.jpg|thumb|left|188px|Jeremy and Anna meet]]
File: - is the file name
thumb - so it would b in "thumb" size
188px = is the size (you can change it)
and the last one is the caption
You can also use template:I
{{I|I=Tomb.JPG|w=300|a=right|c= Ruins of Fell's Church.}}
I - is an image name plus the extension ( jpg. png.)
W - width of the image
A - Right,left,center
C - Caption (What you want under picture)
I am having fun editing the Timeline! The series timeline is so confusing, with one year streching over two seasons, that I was having a hard time keeping things straigh.
I did some edits a guest, but I decided to log in and get credits for the work I am doing.
I like what you did with the page! Nice work, and thank you! :) Except a few grammar mistakes and one or two errors the your edits are great. Like Elena's birthday can't be in June 22 given her birthday was celebrated a week before school year began. And a few other things. You may review the page and fix those or if you want I'll do it sometime later.
Well, I am from Brazil, therefore not a native English speaker, so I apologise for the Grammar mistakes. There are some typos, and I am correcting them as I see them, but I think EVERYBODY can bennefit from an "editor". I guess it's because when you read something you wrote, you know what you wanted to write, so you don't really read it word by word, but the eye just glosses over it.
But I will go over the text once I have finished writing, so that I can create some distance, and forget what I "wanted" to write.
It makes it hard that Chrome's spell check, that works well in most sites, does not work when I am editing the wiki. I wonder if there is any way to make this useful add on work within this platform.
About Elena's birthday, I used the Wikia own Elena's page for reference (http://vampirediaries.wikia.com/wiki/Elena_Gilbert) and I didn't check other sources, but you are right, it does not seems right. I don't know which source the creator of that page used. The show timeline is so messed up that I have to read the transcript to get clues of how much time passes between episodes. I am going episode by episode, and I am still in the middle of season one.
So far the biggest surprise has been the one month time warp between "Lost Girls" and "Haunted", because the show characters indicate that not much time has passed between the two episodes - it could be the next day or a few days, but cerntainly not a whole month, however we jump from September to Halloween! No wonder we get confused with the timeline!
I guess the show producers were not expecting nit-picking fans...
Grammar mistakes ain't important - as long as it's not a disaster :) The real thing is not to put a wrong information. But don't get the wrong idea, you're right to think that way. Elena's birthday, along with Katherine's, was mentioned in a deleted scene of season 2 I guess. But you can't tell everyone that deleted scenes cannot be considered for real information, otherwise we should write Kelly Donovan is a succubus and therefore Matt is half demon. I deleted that birthday a lot of times from Elena's page, but people keep adding it back so I kinda gave up.
Yea, those time jumps between episodes can be confusing. 2 days, 3 days, a week, one month, etc. So I really appreciate your work!
At least you know where that information came from! :D
Well, I erased the month and day from the timeline, will try to figure it out when I get to the third season.
Its more in keeping with the format. Anyway I will keep reading the transcripts and adding the information first, then try to polish the look and format. If you have any suggestion on how to proceed, I will take it gladly! You probably have much more experience than I do!
I am making screen caps from the video, and posting them. I posted around 50 images from that episode. I am about mid episode, and I plan to post the rest soon...
But Christmas festivities are disturbing my plans.... and then comes New Year...
