Trivia
- Antagonists: Rayna Cruz and Alex St. John
- Caroline becomes the most recent vampire shown using a gun in the series. Vampires don't usually need to use them as they are a weapon. Though it's possible vampires have used guns to cover up their kills. Nadia Petrova also used a gun in Season 5.
- Though Matt learns the truth about what happened to Penny 2 years ago, he still blames Stefan for what happened for coming back to Mystic Falls for Caroline. He tells Stefan that he ruined his life and asks who's life he'll ruin next.
- Alaric and Caroline are taken as hostages to force Bonnie into opening up the vault for Alex St. John, Bonnie does so freeing the Armory Monster from the vault. To keep her promise Virginia Bonnie then seals the Armory building trapping Alex and other members of the Armory with what was in the vault.
- Alex finds her sister's dead body in the vault realizing she had been tricked into having the seal on it removed. She's later trapped in the Armory by Bonnie when she seals the building to keep what was inside the vault from escaping into the world.
- For the first time the exterior of the Salvatore Boarding House is seen by the use of stock footage.
- Enzo tells Bonnie according to Alex that the lower levels have been sealed for years.
- Damon makes reference to Elena without saying her name as he talks to Enzo about Bonnie's current situation and talking about his reasons for desiccating himself next to Elena 3 years earlier.
- If Bonnie had died Elena would've woken up from Kai's sleeping beauty spell.
- Rayna had the shaman change the spell at the last moment to make Bonnie the new Huntress instead of just transferring her last life to Bonnie.
- Following Rayna's death, Bonnie has become the new Huntress.
- Bonnie becomes the second main character to become supernatural vampire hunter after the death of the previous one. The first was Jeremy Gilbert in Season 4's The Killer.

Behind the Scenes
- Kill 'Em All was the original title Caroline Dries wanted for episode 18 of season 3 according to this tweet from Julie Plec.
- Filmmaking Tip: Avoid setting scenes in tattoo parlors. Every tattoo on the walls, every tattoo on the actor playing the tattoo artist and the extras needs to be individually cleared by the legal department to make sure they’re not in violation of somebody’s copyright.
- The look of fear on Zach’s [Roerig] face as he’s being shoved towards a spinning saw blade isn’t entirely acting. It’s a rubber blade, but it’s spinning fast enough to hurt. And as for the blood gag hitting the window, we had to do it four times to get it to hit the window. Turns out stage blood doesn’t take direction that well. But we got it, and it was worth waiting for.
- Writer/Producer Tip: James found himself on a two-hour location scout to find a crossroads location, all because he wrote the line in the script from Damon, “We are literally at a crossroads here.” But after two hours in freezing cold weather, he was more than willing to lose the line. [1]
