Bone Daggers are a type of a "supernatural" dagger that could be used as a weapon to kill specific spirits from Hell. It was said to have been made from "death" by the ash and bone of Arcadius and forged into glass by fire from Hell's creation. The second bone dagger, created to kill Katherine, was forged from her bones by Peter Maxwell.
History[]
Little is known about the original dagger forged from the bones of Arcadius as a weapon against the spirits of Hell. The existence of such a weapon would not be realised until the Salvatore brothers would again forge a similar weapon for use against Katherine.

In It's Been a Hell of a Ride, a dagger was destroyed and burned up along with Cade when Stefan stabbed him with it.
In We're Planning a June Wedding, Stefan and Damon made a dagger from Katherine's bones. They planned on using it against her at Stefan and Caroline's wedding, but she never showed up.
In I Was Feeling Epic, Katherine was stabbed several times with a dagger, but to no avail was she destroyed. The dagger's function, though purpose was similar, was different and did not destroy Katherine. Instead, it sent her back to Hell, albeit temporarily, and she could return back to the mortal plane.
